Today, I listened to a podcast that talked about coercive control. It sounds remarkably like how my mother behaves and how we all lined up for her.

It must be summer
It must be summer. I’m thinking of my mom and turning that whole thing around in my brain again. Summer has become one of those times of years that has become increasingly triggering for me.
Weekend Grab Bag
This weekend was such a mixed bag of experiences. Saturday was exceptionally cram packed and honestly, I took a full Sunday to recover and kind of wish I had given myself today to fully get back to myself.
Generational Disappointment
On my pathway to and from work, I drive past an old brick home. It has been empty for as long as I have lived in the area, which, while not that long, has been almost 10 years. A few years back, the home had been cleared out of all items and the windows removed. It looked like some long needed renovations were going to start taking place.
Family Matters
My niece and her husband came up to visit me for the weekend. It was a wonderful time. I was there when my niece was born, and I have tried to be there for her through everything that life brought to both of us. We both have had to deal with the extreme mental dysfunction of our families, so we have a lot that we can relate to each other.
Scarcity
I remember when I was little, my mom would take me and my sister to the local grocery store. This was back before the huge strip malls and corporations had built their headquarters just down the road, and there were strawberry fields and orange orchards as far as the eye could see.
Admission is the First Step
So here’s something that isn’t talked about, but something I deal with and have, every day of my life. It is something most people don’t consider almost ever.
Sister Situation
My sister started following Roger’s Instagram.
This sounds like a total non-event. Like, family members should support your endeavors, even the silly ones that have no impact. So it should seem perfectly normal that a family member is following my ridiculously handsome cat’s Insta.
Uncharacteristic change
As I’ve said before, my daughter and I have been on rather terse terms since shortly after lockdown.
New man
I have been without pets for almost 2 years now. I had to have my sweet puppy put to sleep in July 2019. It was one of the hardest, most heartbreaking things that I have had to do in my life. I still miss him very much and wish he were still with me.
